You're on the list. We'll email you the day SA Logbook lands on Google Play (before 1 March 2027), with your founding-member offer. Reference .
Coming to Google Play before 1 March 2027
- Made in South Africa
- Built around the SARS eLogbook
- POPIA-minded

Drive. Swipe. Export.
A travel logbook that keeps itself, so you can claim what you're owed without the admin.
- Drive like normalTrips are recorded automatically by GPS, in the background, even with the app closed.
- Swipe to classifyRight for business, left for private. Add a reason with one tap from your templates.
- Export for SARSA SARS-format PDF and CSV for each tax year and vehicle, ready for your ITR12 or your tax practitioner.
Everything your travel logbook needs. Nothing it doesn't.
Here's what SA Logbook does, in plain words.
Just drive. It writes the logbook for you.
SA Logbook notices when you start driving and records the trip by GPS: when you left, where you went, how far you drove. No buttons to press, no notes in the cubbyhole. Quick stops for fuel or at the robots are joined into one trip.
- Starts and stops by itself
- Works in the background, even when the app is closed
- Start or stop a trip by hand whenever you like

Business or private? One swipe.
Each drive lands in your trips list. Swipe right for business, left for private, and you're done. Trips to saved clients are marked business for you, and trips between home and work stay private, the way SARS wants.
- Swipe or tap to classify
- A business trip always gets a reason (one tap with templates)
- Home to work is private by default, with an explanation

Your odometer, with photo proof.
SARS needs your odometer reading on 1 March and on the last day of February. SA Logbook reminds you on both days, and you snap a photo of the odometer as proof. Got more than one car? Each one gets its own logbook.
- Reminders on 1 March and at the end of February
- Odometer photos saved with the date and time
- A separate logbook per vehicle, as SARS asks

Save your regulars. Skip the typing.
Save the places you visit and the clients you see, each with a default reason. Next time you drive there, the trip fills itself in. Reason templates like “Client meeting” or “Site inspection” make every business trip one tap.
- Saved places and clients
- Reason templates
- Add a trip by hand with a proper date picker and place search

Tax time? One tap.
Pick the tax year and the vehicle, and SA Logbook builds a PDF laid out like the official SARS eLogbook: opening and closing odometer, every business trip with date, kilometres, from, to and reason, and the totals. There's a CSV too, for Excel or your tax practitioner.
- SARS-format PDF per tax year (1 March to end February)
- CSV export for spreadsheets
- Share straight to your tax practitioner

Is SA Logbook on Google Play yet?
Not yet. We're aiming to launch on Google Play before 1 March 2027, so you can record your opening odometer for the 2027/28 tax year on day one. Join the launch list and we'll email you the day it's live.
How much will it cost?
SA Logbook Pro will be R30 a month or R299 a year (about R24.92 a month), with a free trial to start. People on the launch list who subscribe as founding members can lock in R30 a month for life. Prices are in rand; Google Play handles billing.
Does SARS accept an electronic logbook from an app?
Yes. SARS says it accepts electronic logbooks as an acceptable record, as long as the logbook has the information SARS asks for (see the SARS eLogbook 2026-27). SA Logbook's PDF follows the columns of the official SARS eLogbook. SA Logbook is not affiliated with or endorsed by SARS.
What does a SARS logbook need to show?
Your odometer reading on 1 March and on the last day of February, your total and business kilometres, and for every business trip: the date, the kilometres travelled, where you started, where you went and the reason. Private trips don't need details. A separate logbook is needed for each vehicle. Read our SARS logbook requirements guide.
Is driving from home to work business travel?
No. SARS treats travel between your home and your place of work as private travel, so it can't be claimed. SA Logbook marks trips between your saved Home and Work places as private by default and tells you why.
How long must I keep my logbook?
SARS says you must keep your logbook for at least five years from the date you submit your return, because SARS may ask for it to check your claim. SA Logbook keeps your logbook backed up in the cloud so it's still there years later, even on a new phone.
Will the app drain my battery?
SA Logbook is designed to use GPS only while you're driving and to rest when you're parked, using Android's activity recognition to notice when a drive starts. We'll share real battery numbers from our road tests before launch.
Do you sell my location data?
Never. Your location is used only to build your logbook. We don't sell or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers, and there are no ads. Read our privacy policy.
Never lose a logbook. Never miss a kilometre.
SA Logbook arrives on Google Play before 1 March 2027, in time to record your opening odometer for the 2027/28 tax year. Join the launch list and lock in R30/month for life as a founding member.
